Note your calendars, for Gubra, the latest film by Yasmin Ahmad is scheduled to start its local screening on the 6th of April, 2006 (as at time of publish).
6.4.06, okeys. Nice date, ya. Anam-ampat-kosong-anam.
For early reviews of Gubra go here and here (beware of *spoilers*), here for an account of the gala premiere in Singapore and here for an interview with the cast.
Well, wayang siapa kalau bukan wayang kita? Don't shoot Yasmin for having it premiered in Singapore though, that's done and we'll be watching the same version as Gubra has passed through the National Censorship Board with zero cuts, so we'll be seeing the film in its full, ahem, entirety. Singapore aside, still it's Nazrul alone who owns the claim to fame that Gubra's first 'public premier' in September 2005 was at his cool Ikea-furniture-laden bachelor pad :)
And here's a small tip - do WAIT until the end of the credits instead of heading straight for the exit once they started rolling. You won't regret it.
